The challenge

In early 2024, paint and coatings giant Sherwin Williams asked for our help with a large new project – to train Homebase staff across the UK on the Ronseal fence and decking range in the run up to the peak trading period in April.

Sherwin Williams needed staff to become experts with a comprehensive knowledge of the range to make sure they could effectively support customers questions, aid their decision-making and, where applicable, upsell potential other products.   

What we did

Mapped out a call file that allowed us to visit 54 of the top 100 Homebase stores in the UK across six working days

– Split these stores into three tours, recruiting a Brand Specialist for each area

– With the support of Sherwin-Williams, we trained each Brand Specialist so they felt fully equipped with all the expert product knowledge needed to train Homebase staff to the highest level

– Deployed these Brand Specialists to three stores each day, carrying out in-aisle 30-minute training sessions on Sherwin William’s fence and decking product ranges with Homebase staff
